Preferences

like

Preference adalah ungkapan dalam bahasa Inggris untuk menyatakan perasaan lebih suka dari yang lainnnya.

Preference bisa diungkapkan dengan berbagai macam cara yaitu menggunakan ungkapan berikut :

  • Prefer
  • Would rather
  • Would prefer to
  • Like
  • Had better

1.  Prefer

Rumus:

  • Prefer + to infinitive
  • Prefer + nouns + to + nouns
  • Prefer + V-ing + to + V-ing

Contoh:

  • They prefer to stay home (Dia lebih suka tinggal di rumah)
  • My sister prefers lemon tea to orange juice (Saudariku lebih suka lemon tea daripada jus jeruk)
  • She prefers dancing to singing (Dia lebih suka menari daripada menyanyi)

2.  Would Prefer

Rumus:

  • Would prefer + to infinitives + rather than + bare infinitives
  • Would prefer + to infinitives + nouns + rather than + bare infinitives + nouns

Contoh:

  • They would prefer to sing rather than dance. (Mereka lebih baik bernyanyi saja daripada menari)
  • You’d prefer to play ball rather than take a sleep. (Kamu lebih baik bermain bola daripada tidur)

3.  would rather

Rumus:

  • Would rather + bare infinitives (kata kerja tanpa to)
  • Would rather + bare infinitives + than + bare infinitives
  • Would rather + bare infinitives + nouns + than + bare infinitives + nouns

Contoh:

  • I would rather study now (Saya lebih baik belajar sekarang)
  • She would rather stay home than go shopping (Dia lebih baik tinggal di rumah saja daripada berbelanja)
  • You’d rather speak English than Japanese. (Kamu lebih baik bicara bahasa Inggris daripada bahasa Jepang)

4.  Like

Rumus:

  • Like + nouns / V-ing + better than + nouns / V-ing

Contoh:

  • I like diving better than cyling (Saya lebih suka menyelam daripada bersepeda)
  • I like apples better than bananas. (Saya lebih suka apel daripada pisang)

5. Had bette

Rumus:

  • Had better + bare infinitives
  • Had better + not + bare infinitives (bentuk negative)

Contoh:

  • You had better study English regularly (Kamu lebih baik belajar Bahasa Inggris teratur)
  • You had better not go to the down town (Kamu lebih baik tidak usah pergi ke pusat kota)
